The Opportunity RVS invites applications for a temporary, full-time (40 hrs/wk) Journeyperson Carpenter position at the Education Centre located in Airdrie, Alberta starting immediately until August 29, 2025. The successful candidate will require a valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operators License. The Journeyperson Carpenter shall abide by the "Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act". Responsibilities: Maintains knowledge of all materials relating to the carpentry trade and seeks out information on new materials that may be appropriate for use in school buildings Prepares reports, schedules surveys or recommendations as requested Procures materials in a cost-effective manner Provides input on new construction/renovation plans as requested Safely operates hand, power, pneumatic and explosion-actuated tools, and equipment Reads and utilizes blueprints, specifications and standards effectively Produces accurate and readable sketches Safely climbs ladders, scaffolds, operates lifts and handles Erects scaffolding as required Provides training for carpenter apprentices Education/Experience: Journeyman Carpenters certificate Not less than 3 years’ journeyperson experience Previous experience with a school division or public sector employer is considered an asset Knowledge /Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications Knowledge of window and door hardware installation and repair Excellent time management skills Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients Knowledge of the Albert Building code Able to read and interpret blueprints Effective verbal and written communication skills Strong critical thinking and attention to detail Rocky View Schools Benefits 6 % Vacation pay per pay check As this is a temporary position there is no employer paid sick time, pension or benefits Rocky View employees who are ineligible for employer paid benefits may access the supplemental benefits package at their own cost Professional development and training opportunities RVS Vehicle provided Pre-Employment Requirements In order to be selected as a candidate for an interview, candidates must submit proof of qualifications/education as required by the position The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment Valid Alberta Motor Vehicle License - Class 5 as travel will be required to various work sites on an ongoing basis Open to: Internal/External applicants Salary: $40.06/hr How to Apply: We request all applications be placed through http://rockyview.simplication.com/.
