Job Title: Lead Practitioner - Computer Science
Location: Pimlico, London
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
Start Date: January 2025 or sooner
MLK Education Search are pleased to be supporting this Digital, Specialist College in securing their next Lead Practitioner to drive curriculum for Computer Science on take the department on its aspirational journey.
They currently have 500 students and apprentices on roll but with plans now well underway to grow to 850+ learners by December 2025 across their two fantastic new City Centre hub campuses in London and Manchester.

We are looking for passionate educators who:
- Embrace diverse roles: Deliver lessons across a range of subjects, including computer programming, cyber security, game design, and more

As a Lead Practitioner you will:
- Be a Team Lead and support, through mentoring and intervention, the personal development and academic progress of the students in your Team in line with their mission and commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Teach Computer Science to students, maintaining outstanding standards of teaching, learning and assessment
- Provide academic and pastoral support for students in their lessons, as well as support outside lessons to ensure that every student makes an effective progress
- Provide written feedback on students’ progress to the college, to parents/carers and to students themselves where appropriate
- Ensure you put in place relevant industry support into your classroom teaching, e.g., through guest speakers, industry visits
- Provide written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of students
- Prepare high quality learning resources that reflect the College's Approach to Collaborative Professionalism

Desirable Experience and Qualifications:
- Degree level qualification in a relevant subject
- Delivery of Computer Science/Computing to at least KS4 with strong subject knowledge to facilitate the teaching at KS5
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) / PGCE / Lecturer qualification (QTLS)
- Delivery of Computer Science/Computing at Level 3 – either A Level, BTEC or Digital T Level
- Teaching and learning role in an education focused organisation
- Strong programming capabilities and experience within a similar setting highly desirable
- Knowledge of industry, ideally the tech sector, and ideas of how to invigorate the curriculum by harnessing industry’s challenges and ways of working
- Pastoral experience with post 16 students, for example as a tutor
