Investment Analyst - Equities (Boutique Mayfair based Asset Manager): Associate/ Senior Associate level (Route to become a junior Portfolio Manager)


Martis Search are representing a Mayfair based, but global Asset Management business to hire a permanent “Investment Analyst – Equities.”


This is such a rare and unique opportunity and offers the genuine career progression to become junior “Portfolio Manager.”


The company will provide full training and this unique and rare career opportunity is available to be achieved (through hard work and hitting requirements).


The beauty of this role is also that is has a unique mix of “Equity Research/ “Equity Analysis” and also “Equity Fund Due Diligence and Selection”, but is also “client facing” whereby you will also attend client meetings and pitches.


The company trade a broad range of investment strategies. The company have a very healthy track-record and AUM to match.


The position sits within their within their small and tight-knit Investment Research team (comprising of Equity, Fixed Income & Liquid Alternatives and Operational Due Diligence), which reports into the Chief Investment Officer, however, you will work alongside their Head of Equities, focusing on Equity and Equity Long-Short Funds (Generalist).


This is a specialist role within the firm’s Wealth Management business which will suit an experienced fund selector. The role involves conducting end-to-end investment, and responsible investment due diligence reviews of new Equity and Equity Long-Short Funds and their managers, as well as monitoring funds on the approved list.


In addition, the role will also be client facing, so you will be attending client meetings with senior managers, so not only do you need to be analytical, you need to be “client facing” and be confident in face-to-face client meetings.


The chosen incumbent must be of graduate calibre (2:1 minimum in a numerate based subject such as Economics, Mathematics, Engineering etc) and must either be from an Asset Management, Wealth Management, or Family Office Middle Office background and worked within an “analytical” role with 2-5-years’ experience as “Investment Analyst.”


In addition, having a relevant industry qualification is highly advantageous (e.g. CFA, IAD, CISI Diploma). Our client also stated that someone should either also have completed the CFA Level 1-3, or is currently studying towards one exam and they will also offer study support.


The company offer a hybrid mix of working-from-home and also in-the-office, so you get the best of both worlds.


About the role:


• You will work alongside the Head of Equities, focusing on Equity and Equity Long-Short Funds (Generalist)

• The role involves conducting end-to-end investment, and responsible investment due diligence reviews of new equity and equity long-short funds and their managers, as well as monitoring funds on the approved list

• You will also be expected to maintain a broad knowledge of the market environment and equity investment products and contribute to internal discussions on such topics

• You will be involved in maintaining the company’s security database in conjunction with Middle Office

• The Equity team sits within the company’s tight knit investment research team (comprising Fixed Income & Liquid Alternatives and Operational Due Diligence), which reports into the Chief Investment Officer. You will also work closely with the client team and partners and be available to support and advise them on approved funds, and attend client meetings and pitches as required

• There is scope to get involved in ad-hoc internal committees and projects


About you:


• At least 3-years’ experience working in a fund selection capacity or a directly related role within the investment management industry

• A relevant industry qualification (e.g. CFA, IAD, CISI Diploma)

• Deep knowledge of the fund management industry and investment processes

• Comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively; adaptable to working with different personality types with dynamism and enthusiasm

• In possession of excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

• Strong attention to detail and numeric, with strong understanding of quantitative analysis techniques

• Hard-working and self-motivated with a solutions-oriented and proactive approach to problems and tasks

• Welcomes challenge with the ability to think critically and challenge and/or support others on investment ideas

• Willingness to learn and develop on a continuous basis

You would additionally benefit from:

• Experience using Bloomberg and MorningStar

• Genuine interest in responsible investing

• Client-facing experience


Salary


£55,000 k pa - £70,000 k pa, plus a very good bonus, pension, healthcare and other related benefits.
