A vacancy exists in the Department of Recreation and Parks for an Oregon Ridge Lodge Community Supervisor I.

Examples of Duties

Job Purpose
Under general supervision, manages the operations of a recreation center, park, or related facility. Serves as the assistant recreation supervisor for a large community by assisting the Recreation Community Supervisor II in planning, organizing, and supervising recreation and parks programs, and the operation and maintenance of community recreation facilities.

Essential Job Duties
  • Manages the daily operations of a recreation center, park, or related facility.
  • Supervises and trains staff.
  • Develops work schedules.
  • Recruits, trains, and guides volunteers.
  • Develops and oversees the completion of work projects.
  • Oversees the work of outside contractors at the site.
  • Supervises the receipt and accounting of fees.
  • Supervises the rental of equipment.
  • Purchases, inventories, and stores merchandise, supplies and equipment.
  • Gathers and assembles fiscal data and prepares various reports.
  • Monitors the expenditure of funds.
  • Prepares budget estimates.
  • Resolves operational issues which arise at the center.
  • Receives and responds to questions and complaints from the public.
  • Schedules the use of buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Supervises custodial services provided at the center.
  • Inspects the site to ensure that facilities and equipment are in proper condition and that safety standards are maintained.
  • Supervises the provision of leisure programs and services.
  • Develops a schedule of programs and events for a center.
  • Coordinates and supervises special events.
  • Publicizes programming and event activities.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of recreation and parks programming for a community.
  • Assists in planning, organizing, and conducting diversified leisure programs which may include athletics, fitness, arts, and science programs.
  • Assists in the supervision of recreation leaders and other staff.
  • Attends community meetings.
  • Represents the department at recreation council meetings and events.

Qualifications

Training and Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation and parks, physical education, business or public administration, behavioral or health sciences, education, or a closely related field.

Experience as described in Examples of Essential Job Duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

Conditions of Employment

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification entails some physical labor including walking over rough and uneven surfaces in the inspection of facilities and grounds, and some lifting and carrying of items.

The work entails travel to recreation and park sites, facilities, and meetings throughout the County.

Employees in this classification are required to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation

Salary

Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
General Increases - Cost of living increases and adjustments may be granted as legislated.
Longevity Increases - In accordance with the specific pay schedule, a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain number of years of classified service with the County.
