Description

Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Business, Technology and Human Services and Dean, Continuing Education and Business Partnerships, the Director of Computer Science Training maintains and develops Computer Science related curriculum; provides instruction and assesses student learning in a variety of Computer Science courses in the credit and non-credit divisions; is responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, continued development, and general effectiveness of the Computer Science courses and programs; maintains current knowledge of Computer Science practices, and educational methodology through continued professional development; and is dedicated to the learning college concepts and develops programs and facilitates activities that promote student success and lifelong learning, including competency based education and work-based learning.

Additionally, the Director of Computer Science Training oversees development of new curricula related to Computer Science Training as directed by the Assistant Dean, Business, Technology and Human Services and Dean, Continuing Education and Business Partnerships; seeks additional funding streams, such as grant opportunities and industry partnerships; is responsible for assisting with career and technical education (CTE) recruitment at local high schools; organizes on-campus CTE recruiting events; initiates CTE curriculum alignment and dual-credit where appropriate, as well as developing and supporting non-credit opportunities.

Examples of Duties

Administrative Duties:

A. Assists the development and facilitation of program related grants and other program funding streams

B. Prepares and submits annual evaluation reports of program accomplishments and concerns, making recommendations where appropriate; submits other reports as requested.
C. Develops and facilitates recruitment events, orientations, and workshops designed to familiarize high school students and teachers with career opportunities in CTE disciplines
D. Participates and facilitates community partner relationships through community outreach and program advisory committee meetings -- twice a year, at minimum.

E. Participates in curriculum development, course development, and assessing student learning outcomes.

F. Develops and submits to the Assistant Dean, Business, Technology and Human Services and Dean, Continuing Education and Business Partnerships, an annual budget request for the operation of the programs; approves program expenditures within the Board-adopted budget.

G. Recommends computer instructors for hire.

Instructional Duties:

A. May instruct and prepare syllabi and instructional materials for Computer Science courses or other Computer Science related courses as qualified.

B. Advises, counsels, and assists students in accomplishing their course and program goals.

C. Assesses student learning outcomes at the class, course, and program levels.

D. Recommends a schedule of classes, instructor assignments and coordinates textbook selection and maintains current files of course materials.

E. Ensures the program's software and equipment remains updated based on industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Bachelor's degree required in a technical field related to Computer Science. Master's degree is preferred.

B. Three years of work experience in Computer Science instruction is preferred.

C. Industry recognized credentials or certification for acceptable computer related credentials and badging programs is preferred.

D. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multi-dimensional activities simultaneously; self-motivated and able to exercise good judgment in establishing effective priorities among competing task demands.

E. Qualified candidate must have strong reading, writing, computation and interpersonal skills.

F. Must have reliable transportation.

Supplemental Information

Minimum salary is: $64,142/yr.
Position begins January 8, 2025
