Fixed Term Teacher of Drama (with Dance)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic graduate as Teacher of Drama to join a highly creative department, to teach across the Preparatory School and Senior School. Ability to teach Dance, technical theatre, stage-management and LAMDA exam experience would be a benefit. An additional responsibility could be offered to the right candidate to teach GCSE Dance.

In Years 3-9 we teach a wide and enriching drama curriculum and there may be scope for individual teachers to adapt and develop the schemes of work. Class sizes average about 15- 20 across the school. Year 3 to 9 are taught as mixed ability classes. In Year 9, we already introduce elements of the AQA GCSE Specification to equip those students moving on to GCSE study.

The Drama department enjoys a large performance room with stage lights. Currently the department consists of two members of teaching staff.

Regular theatre trips are organised for all years and the successful candidate would be required to help assist and organise trips. In addition, the department is looking for a keen candidate to assist with our innovative Performance Academy for sixth formers, on school productions and other drama related events throughout the year. Duties would include running a lunchtime Drama club, once a week and to be in charge of teaching/organising LAMDA exams. There is also the directorship of a Summer shorter production with the lower school, Years 7 to 9.
