POSITION DESCRIPTION

The position of Equipment Operator will be tasked with performing multiple plant duties safely and efficiently while maintaining a safety-first attitude. This position requires management resources to adhere to all company standards, policies, and procedures and comply with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, TCEQ, etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* The criteria for evaluation in this position include but are not limited to the following:
* Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, backhoes, etc.
* Be familiar with and incorporate information derived from the manuals for the individual equipment.
* Be familiar with the equipment and vehicle condition report.
* Communicate with the Project Manager/Foreperson about the daily job specifications; operate the equipment safely and responsibly.
* Perform daily pre-start-up procedures, i.e., note the service due date, check fluid levels, ensure the equipment is in good running order, complete vehicle condition report, etc.
* Discuss the anticipated production with the supervisor, the type of materials being moved, the number of trucks, etc.
* Be aware of other equipment working on the project and coordinate to work with the other equipment.
* When possible, leave the equipment in a place that is readily accessible to the Equipment Mover.
* Keep equipment clean. Wiping down equipment promotes a positive public image and enables the operator to inspect the equipment at close range.
* Ability to follow directions.
* Occasionally performs general laboring duties, such as shoveling and raking stone, gravel, earth, and topsoil material.
* Occasionally directs and guides traffic through the construction job site using proper equipment and procedures.
* Regularly erects, positions, and moves sign packages safely and accurately, adhering to state specifications. Move traffic control devices regularly, lifting 30 lbs and occasionally 100 lbs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

* Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
* Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
* Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
* Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
* Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the policies, Programs & Procedures Manual.
* Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Less than high school education; or up to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
