Job Description

Children’s Hospices across Scotland, better known as CHAS, is Scotland’s national children’s hospice service which cares for children with life shortening conditions and their families. We operate across the country through our two hospices as well as in hospitals and our home care service in the community.

Three children die every week in Scotland from an incurable condition. At the moment, CHAS can only reach one in three of these families but we are determined to reach them all. We must be there for every family that needs us to help families to celebrate the lives of their children whilst they are together and to honour their memory after they have died.

Do you want to be part of this amazing ambition and help us reach every family in Scotland that needs us?

We are looking for a highly organised and professional administrator who can help our team with the provision of essential administrative/reception support to the Nursing and Medical, Family Support, Outreach and Quality and Assurance Teams within Rachel House.

You will be a confident communicator with great attention to detail and excellent organisational, creative problem solving and prioritisation skills. You will have a positive, welcoming and can-do attitude. Maintaining confidentiality is a key attribute for this role in addition to ensuring that work is carried out efficiently, effectively and to a high standard. You must be able to cope with routine and challenging situations, using your initiative and working with discretion and diplomacy.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft applications in particular Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams is essential along with data input experience.

At CHAS, staff and volunteers work together as one team, focused on the common goal of reaching every family in Scotland who needs our support. We have a 3:1 ratio of volunteers to staff members in CHAS. All CHAS staff will at some point work with or alongside volunteers and will be expected to support volunteers.

A commitment to CHAS core values, vision and purpose is essential.

This role is subject to a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check.

This role is for 21 hours per week, 9am - 5pm Wednesday to Friday.
