Job Summary

Maintenance Fitter Engineer

Location: Imerys - Herreschoff Kilns Site, Lee Moor Plympton, Devon, PL7 5JP

Salary: Up to £39,431.15 (dependent upon skills and experience - inclusive of shift allowance)

Hours of work: 12 Hour Day shifts, working 6am - 6pm:

Week 1 = Working Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun (Wed & Thu off)
Week 2 = Working Wed & Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun off)

The job role

Our Herreschoff Kiln site produces soft calcined kaolin which is produced using continuous multiple hearth calciner technology. This site produces two products - Polestar 200P and Polestar 200R serving high value Pharmaceutical Rubber, Polymers, Paints and Plastic Markets.

Joining our Maintenance Team; you'll be responsible for providing mechanical and/or electrical knowledge and skills to maximise plant and equipment availability.

As a Maintenance Engineer the main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Carrying out routine preventive, corrective & breakdown maintenance

• Fault finding, diagnostic and installation work

• Calibrating and diagnosing faults on instrumentation systems

• Carrying out Risk assessments and ensure all work areas are clean and free from hazards

• Ordering site spares

• Working from height and in confined spaces.

The site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; once fully competent, you will be required to join a rota system to provide out-of-hours support.

You will:

• Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in mechanical and/or electrical discipline, or equivalent with indentured apprenticeship

• Be willing to take further training to become multi skilled

• Have previous experience of working with/ on pumps, mills, burners/furnaces/gas, intrusive chemical work and centrifuges, although all industrial backgrounds will be considered

• Ideally have a background from within a commercial/ heavy industry, production or factory-based environment

• Have a strong HSEQ ethos

• Be proficient in the use of IT or willing to learn

• Legally be able to drive in the UK
