**License:** Must be licensed as a Radiographer by the state of employment
**Certifications:** BLS, ARRT
**Must-Have:** Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiologic Technology and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
**Job Description:**
- Review radiology requisitions and physician orders to ensure proper procedures are performed. Collect and ensure previous, pertinent exams are available for Radiologist's review.
- Instruct patients regarding procedures and preps. Position patients and, if necessary, restrain mobility through the use of immobilization devices.
- Determine and adjust exposure factors; operate equipment according to established procedures to obtain diagnostic C.T. procedures and radiographs. Clean and organize work area to ensure proper supplies required for procedures are available. Process and review quality of images, and report any need for equipment adjustment or repair.
- Ensure that safety devices such as shielding, lead aprons, and gloves are used properly during procedures.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills through membership and participation in professional associations. Assist with on-the-job instruction of radiology students and orienting new technologists.
- Perform venous punctures for injection of contrast media, and monitor patients for reactions and/or complications.
- Communicate wet/stat reading results to physician offices and discuss results with patients when requested.
- Exhibit manual dexterity sufficient to calibrate and operate equipment, properly position patients, apply and adjust restraining devices, and administer intravenous injections of contrast.
- Communicate verbally with patients, physicians, and other hospital employees effectively.
- Lift and position patients as needed.
- Utilize computer systems and file systems to facilitate patient records.
- Initiate CPR when necessary and maintain CPR Certification.
- Interact effectively with populations of patients/customers, understanding their needs for self-respect and dignity.
