The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) champions the power of planning in creating prosperous places and vibrant communities. We represent over 27,000 members worldwide, supporting them throughout their careers. We shape planning policy, raise professional standards and are the only body in the UK to confer Chartered status to planners, the highest professional qualification.

These are important and exciting times for planning in Scotland. With a new Planning Act in place and the National Planning Framework 4 over a year old, the profession's focus now turns to the Scottish Government's corresponding Delivery Programme. RTPI Scotland has been heavily involved with the preparation of the NPF4 and we will look to be supporting the implementation of the framework. This post will be key in supporting a number of our current workstreams including magazine programming and editing, resourcing research, developing our programme to enhance the pipeline of planners, supporting policy development and consultation responses.

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is the professional institute for the UK's planners and is the largest in Europe with over 27,000 members. Our mission is to advance the science and art of town planning, working for the long-term common good and well-being of current and future generations. We campaign to promote healthy, socially inclusive, economically and environmentally sustainable places. The RTPI is a membership organisation and a Chartered Institute responsible for maintaining professional standards, and accrediting world class planning courses nationally and internationally.

We are looking for a motivated person who can use collaborative and analytical skills to support the engagement of our Scottish membership on planning policy matters. You will be organised, have strong communication skills, a degree level qualification in a relevant social science subject or working towards completion of an RTPI accredited course and a firm understanding of the current issues facing planners and the planning system.

NB. This role will give the successful applicant excellent experience, contributing to their understanding of planning policy in Scotland. Please note, for any applicants currently working towards completing a RTPI accredited qualification, this experience would not be able to be counted towards that needed to support your Assessment of Professional Competence.
