Trustee Opportunity at Wandsworth Oasis
Supporting People Living with HIV and Challenging Stigma.
Wandsworth Oasis is seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help guide the charity in its mission to support people living with HIV. For nearly 30 years, we have provided grant funding to organisations that provide support, promote prevention, and raise awareness of HIV. We are looking for trustees who share a commitment to our purpose and can contribute to the charity's strategic direction and sustainability.
About Wandsworth Oasis:
Wandsworth Oasis is a charity that raises funds through our network of eight charity shops. This enables us to award grants to London-based organisations that support people living with HIV or AIDS. In addition to funding, we strive to raise awareness about HIV and challenge the stigma that still surrounds the condition.
About the Trustee Role:
As a volunteer Trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Wandsworth Oasis. Working as part of the Board and alongside the leadership team, you will help set the strategic direction, ensure financial stability, and provide governance oversight. As a member of the Board of Trustees, you will ensure the charity’s resources are used effectively and that our activities align with our charitable purpose. We would particularly like to hear from those with lived experience relevant to our purpose, as well as HR knowledge or previous governance experience.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Governance and Compliance: Ensure that Wandsworth Oasis complies with charity law, company law, and other relevant legislation. Actively contribute to the Board’s role in providing strategic direction.
- Strategic Oversight: Work with co-trustees to ensure that Wandsworth Oasis meets its strategic objectives and delivers its charitable purpose
- Board Participation: Actively contribute to quarterly Board meetings and engage with specific skills, knowledge, or experience to ensure sound decision-making.
- Financial Stability: Safeguard the financial stability of Wandsworth Oasis by overseeing key operational and financial decisions.
Time Commitment:
The Board meets quarterly, and some trustees also serve on sub-committees that meet quarterly. We hold an annual Board awayday. Trustees may occasionally be asked to contribute to specific projects or related discussions. We ask that Trustees can serve a minimum three-year term.
