Role Overview:


Milestones is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Educational Manager – Sciences & Maths to oversee and deliver high-quality educational programmes in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics from KS1 to A-Level and IB. The successful candidate will manage tutors, lead the delivery of personalised science and maths programmes, and work closely with students and parents to ensure success in National Curriculum subjects. This role is critical in helping students excel academically while building a love for the STEM fields.

The candidate must have significant knowledge of the UK education system, with at least 5 years’ experience studying and/or working within it. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting assessments, offering feedback, and ensuring students achieve their academic goals.

This role also involves working alongside top educators, scientists, psychologists, and performance coaches to apply the Milestones Method—including neurocognitive strategies—to enhance student performance.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Client Relations:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both students and parents, ensuring personalised support and guidance in the sciences and maths subjects.
  • Conduct initial assessments (in-person or online) to identify each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Provide expert advice to families on the best learning strategies for success in GCSEs, A-Levels, IB, and other relevant exams.
  • Programme Management:
  • Manage and train a team of core maths and science tutors to deliver tailored programmes based on the UK National Curriculum.
  • Oversee the scheduling and delivery of tutoring sessions, ensuring alignment with each student’s personalised learning plan and exam goals.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of student performance, prepare detailed feedback, and adjust strategies to optimise results in science and maths.
  • Produce content for social media channels and the Milestones community, promoting the importance of STEM education and sharing tips for success in these subjects.
  • Educational Leadership:
  • Provide direct tutoring and mentorship in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring students are fully supported in understanding core concepts and applying critical thinking skills.
  • Organise and lead workshops, events, and science-focused community networks, helping students and parents stay informed and engaged.
  • Facilitate interview preparation, revision sessions, and exam preparation for students aiming for top grades and entry into competitive science and maths programmes.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Organise and lead science and maths-related events, workshops, and webinars to foster a community of passionate STEM learners.
  • Build and maintain a social and community network for parents and students, sharing regular updates on progress, achievements, and educational strategies for science and maths excellence.



Qualifications & Experience:


  • Education & Experience:
  • A strong higher education degree in Mathematics, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or related STEM subjects.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in or studying within the UK education system (experience as a mother, father, or guardian who has navigated the UK education system is also valued).
  • Significant knowledge of the National Curriculum, GCSEs, A-Levels, and IB programmes in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Skills & Expertise:
  • Demonstrable teaching experience in Maths and at least one or more sciences up to A-Level (experience with IB is also highly desirable).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in an accessible and engaging way.
  • Proven experience in managing teams or leading educational groups (this can be in tutoring, education programmes, or other fields).
  • Strong interest in learning and applying the Milestones Method, including integrating neurocognitive strategies to enhance learning outcomes for students.
  • Preferred Attributes:
  • Passionate about STEM education and the importance of critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation.
  • A proactive, forward-thinking individual who can bring new ideas and strategies to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Familiarity with STEM exam formats, assessments, and interviews commonly used in the UK education system.
