Main Activities & Tasks

Assist Surfacing Managers: Support Interior and Exterior Surfacing Managers by effectively managing project inputs and outputs. Provide strategic guidance to the Interior and Exterior CAS teams on behalf of the Surfacing Managers, ensuring clear communication and alignment with overall project goals. This role is pivotal in streamlining workflows and enhancing team collaboration.

Sketch 3D Surfaces for Aesthetic Design Development: Develop detailed 3D surface sketches that facilitate the exploration and refinement of aesthetic designs. These sketches serve as a visual tool to enhance creative discussions and inform design direction.

Develop Initial Theme Proposals: Generate initial theme proposals to support both aesthetic and feasibility studies. These proposals help evaluate design concepts early in the process, ensuring alignment with both creative vision and practical constraints.

Create Surfaces for Engineering Feasibility Verification: Produce surfaces based on selected themes to verify engineering feasibility. This step involves close collaboration with engineering teams to ensure that designs can be effectively realized while meeting performance and safety standards.

Prepare Surface Releases for Design Approval: Create comprehensive surface releases that are ready for design approval. This includes ensuring that all necessary documentation and visual representations are clear and concise, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions.

Establish Surface Releases for Production Surfacing Activities: Develop surface releases that provide a solid foundation for subsequent production surfacing activities. This process includes detailed specifications and guidelines to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacturing.

Create and Support Surface Data for Production Surfacing: Generate and maintain surface data essential for production surfacing activities. Provide ongoing support to the production team, ensuring that all surface data is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with design intent throughout the manufacturing process.

Work Under Tight Deadlines and Challenging Briefs: Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and manage challenging briefs. Prioritise tasks effectively and maintain a high level of quality in deliverables, ensuring that project goals are met on time while adapting to changing requirements

Other Features of Role

Provide Reference CAS Information: Supply comprehensive and accurate CAS (Computer-Aided Surfacing) data to facilitate the development of clay and physical prototypes. This information is crucial for ensuring that the physical models accurately reflect the digital designs and meet desired aesthetic and functional criteria.

Support Non-Virtual Reality (VR) and VR Reviews: Actively participate in both non-VR and VR evaluations of surface data. Contribute to regular digital design reviews by providing relevant content and attending meetings to ensure that all design aspects are thoroughly examined and discussed. This collaborative approach fosters constructive feedback and enhances the overall design quality.

Assist with Data Creation for Visualization and Animation: Collaborate with the design and visualization teams to create high-quality data that supports advanced visualizations and animation deliverables. This includes developing 3D models and surfaces that effectively convey design intent and facilitate impactful presentations.

Document and Organize Inputs/Outputs: Maintain meticulous documentation of all project inputs and outputs to provide stakeholders with clear visibility into the progress of the surfacing work. Organize this information in a professional manner, making it easily accessible for team members and management. Highlight any roadblocks or challenges that require attention, ensuring that issues are promptly addressed and resolved.

Facilitate Communication with Stakeholders: Serve as a liaison between various teams, ensuring effective communication regarding project status, design updates, and any potential challenges. This role is essential for keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the design process.

Continuous Improvement: Actively seek feedback from team members and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in data creation and documentation processes.
