Creative Producer, First Nations (ID)

About the Role

The Creative Producer, First Nations is a crucial role that sits within the Programming team and works collaboratively with our First Nations Division at the AM. The role is offered on a full-time basis for up to one year. Being of Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander descent, you will be required to use your prior professional and lived experience to produce a suite of programs interpreting the Australian Museum’s (AM’s) onsite exhibitions and First Nations cultural collections.

Over the next 12 months, the primary focus of this role will be to develop a comprehensive and sustainable First Nations public program. This will involve working on and delivering existing Museum offerings such as Ngalu Warrawi Marri, gallery tours, NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week activities, while also developing new areas to enhance the program such as festivals, workshops, cultural revitalisation, and community engagement.

· Clerk Grade 5/6

· Fixed term up to 12 months

You will be paid a competitive annual salary package range between $93,295 - $102,942 plus employer's contribution to superannuation (currently 11.5%) and annual leave loading.

About you

Your Knowledge & Experience

· Experience in the cultural sector, specifically, in planning and delivering public programs and initiatives within the science and/ or arts sectors.

· Prior experience in working closely with First Nations artists, community groups and other stakeholders during development, planning and presentation stages of projects.

· Ability to maintain effective relationships with Elders, community, stakeholders, and industry

· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with a broad range of people.

Essential Requirements

· Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander descent – is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

· Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Event Management, History, Culture, Art, or Science

· Availability to work on evenings, public holidays and some weekends when required.

· A valid NSW Working with Children Clearance

· a certificate or documentation confirming Aboriginality from a recognised Aboriginal organisation with a common seal

o I am a person of Aboriginal descent.

o I identify as an Aboriginal person

o I am accepted by the Aboriginal community as an Aboriginal person

o I declare that this information is true and correct at the time of submission

· a statutory declaration if the applicant has no other formal documentary evidence. However, the applicant may need to provide additional supporting documents if the evidence in the declaration is not strong enough.

2. If an applicant cannot provide any of the above written documentation, AM can consider providing the applicant with an opportunity during the interview to confirm their Aboriginality.
