Who we are looking for
State Street (STT) is looking for an experienced media and public relations professional to join its Global Public Relations team as Assistant Vice President, Public Relations for Continental Europe. Specializing in media relations, this candidate will be driven, and looking to take their career to the next level. They should have solid relationships with top-tier business and financial trade publications across the European continent and be experienced at proactively pitching complex stories, as well as managing reputational issues. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing, global environment, demonstrating a 'client-service' approach for our internal stakeholders. They will be outcome-driven and be skillful at producing reports and analysis that demonstrate results and objectives have been achieved. This candidate will have strong writing/editing skills, well-versed in developing media-engaging social/digital content, well organized and have high attention to detail.
Based in EMEA (Germany preferred), this role will focus on developing and executing global PR strategy for State Street across Continental Europe. The candidate will work closely with the regional and global PR teams, business marketing functions, State Street European leadership and PR agencies on a daily basis to ensure media opportunities for key spokespeople are identified and leveraged, and that all necessary processes and policies are followed.
This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for
As Public Relations Specialist you will
- Collaborate with colleagues on the internal global PR team, global marketing and external agencies to create, refine and deliver differentiated media driven activity in support of the firm's corporate PR strategy and State Street's individual business units' objectives
- Develop media campaign strategies around the business' latest thought leadership, including topics such as asset stewardship, retirement, emerging markets, quantitative investing and private credit. Develop or strengthen relationships with global, national and regional press contacts both within our day-to-day business.
- Build collaborative relationships with business stakeholders and partners to align PR strategy with business objectives
- Independently own programs/campaigns from concept through to execution
- Compose and edit content including press releases, bylines, talking points, media briefings social and digital media
- Support media interactions of business stakeholders at industry conferences

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 5-7 years of direct experience in communications, media relations and/or public relations fields with a track record of successful developing relationships with journalists and tier 1 media outlets - print, broadcast and online
- Knowledge of the financial services industry and Fintech knowledge is preferred
- Strong English and German language skills, as well as other European languages highly desireable
Additional requirements
- Serving as media counselor for senior executives
- Adept at understanding how to navigate complex industries and large organizations
- Support with developing executive communications platforms
- Building and retaining strong relationships with local, trade and national media
- Ideal candidate will also have experience in banking, financial services and asset management industries with strong relationships with relevant journalists covering the industry
- In house or previous agency experience
- Experience developing reports on media metrics and analytics
- Media relations and PR experience across corporate functions including Inclusion and Diversity, CSR and ESG
- Experience with executive PR and media relations programs
- Ability to create and manage integrated PR/marketing plans and timelines
- Command of traditional, digital, social and integrated marketing tactics
