Virtual South Carolina Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) - School-Based (Full or Part-Time)

We are actively hiring a Virtual Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to work with schools in South Carolina for the upcoming school year. This role offers the flexibility of full-time or part-time hours, allowing you to support K-12 students in need of interpreting services.

Position Overview:

• Location: Remote (serving schools in South Carolina)
• Schedule: Full-time or Part-time (depending on your availability)
• Caseload: Students with a variety of interpreting needs across grade levels K-12
• Contract Duration: 2024-2025 School Year

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide virtual sign language interpretation for students during online classes and meetings.
• Ensure that students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing have access to the curriculum and can effectively participate in all school activities.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support student success.
• Monitor and report on student progress and engagement.

Requirements:

• Active South Carolina SLI certification (or eligibility for certification).
• Experience interpreting in an educational or virtual setting preferred.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture.
• EIPA 3.5+ or RID certification is highly desired.
• Strong technical skills and the ability to provide services in a virtual environment.
