A leading homebuilder is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Accounting Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of various accounting functions, including financial reporting, audit support, payroll, and business planning. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly division reports as required by region and corporate offices.
  • Serve as the primary backup to the Land Controller for land accounts payable.
  • Match receipts, code invoices for P-Card, and post to the General Ledger.
  • Manage vendor insurance maintenance and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of yearly and quarterly P&L projections as part of the business planning process.
  • Maintain schedules of leased trailers and office equipment both on and offsite.
  • Analyze monthly P&L statements, review discrepancies, and escalate concerns as necessary.
  • Review bills from both regional and corporate offices for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare for and facilitate monthly financial operations meetings to address budget variances for homes closing that month.
  • Manage the division payroll process, ensuring accuracy and proper record retention for audit purposes, including expense reports, bi-weekly commissions, advances, and bonuses.
  • Support the Division Controller and Assistant Controller in responding to internal and external audit requests promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and regional and corporate policies.
  • Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller with the month-end close process to ensure accuracy and adherence to corporate deadlines.
  • Complete and submit SOP and Price Change requests as required by the Division Controller and Assistant Controller.
  • Prepare quarterly balance sheet submissions.
  • Serve as a backup to the Assistant Controller for projects such as quarterly warranty spending reviews, new community setup and maintenance in JDE, and processing legal bills in Serengeti.
  • Monitor and ensure the collection of energy and miscellaneous rebates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college, preferably in Accounting, is required.
  • A graduate degree and/or CPA certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of general accounting experience is required.
  • Experience in P&L management is required.
  • Homebuilding experience is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Experience with JD Edwards and Hyperion/Essbase is preferred.
