Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the machining and fitting of precision parts and assemblies according to blueprints and written or verbal specifications with minimal supervision.
• Use of manual lathes, milling machines, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and other precision measuring equipment is a must.
• Working hands-on equipment in our Birmingham, AL service facility is required.
• Efficiently produce parts by setting up and operating machine shop equipment
• Make fixtures and tooling as needed to complete jobs
• Complete alignment and quality checks using basic measuring devices
• Recommend design improvements and process changes
• Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment; Responsible for machine maintenance.

Overtime may be required on short notice to meet customer deadlines.

Requirements:

Hiring Qualifications:

• Minimum ten (10) years manual machining experience with lathes and milling machines in industrial rotating equipment service and repair.
• CNC experience is a plus, but not a requirement
• Technical school graduate in related field or equivalent training
• Experience in job shop work environment
• Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions
• Math and mechanical aptitude
• Proficient in the use of standard machinist tools and measuring instruments
• Familiar with working properties of metals
• Basic writing and computer skills
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
