The Position
The Surrey Cricket Foundation is seeking a Clubs & Facilities Manager to lead on the delivery and development of recreational club cricket across Surrey.
The Clubs & Facilities Manager will lead a team of four people (3 x Club Support Officer and 1 x Coach Education Coordinator) who are responsible for all facets of club development, ensuring that Surrey maintains its position as one of the leading counties when it comes to delivering club development support.
In addition, the Clubs & Facilities Manager will be the strategic lead for facility development in Surrey, leading the Foundation’s ambitious plans to develop facilities across Surrey as part of its 10-year facilities strategy.
Requirements
What you’ll do
- ·Manage and lead the Clubs & Facilities team to drive growth in participation across all areas of the game in Surrey ensuring that we help to deliver the most inclusive team sport in the country
- Oversee the delivery of all club development programmes across the network, including (but not limited to) Clubmark, Safeguarding Compliance, Club Development Support, Club Webinars and National Programmes
- Work with the Cricket Participation Coordinator to create, develop and deliver a strategic plan to increase the number of coaches from all backgrounds across Surrey
- Strategic lead for the SCF Facilities Strategy ensuring that the 10 year strategy is effectively delivered, monitored and reviewed, developing and enhancing facilities across Surrey as a result.
- Oversee the delivery of ECB and SCF grant programmes including the ECB County Grants Fund, the Grass Pitch Improvement Fund and SCF programmes and produce an annual impact report that demonstrates the impact on investment into the network
- Lead on the Surrey delivery of the London Cricket Trust which seeks to put cricket back into London’s Parks
- Work with the ECB Facilities and Funding Manager to provide comments and feedback on planning applications relating to cricket within Surrey
- Act as the SCF lead on funding opportunities for the cricket network, researching and sharing the various funding streams that clubs might be able to access
- Strategic and operational lead for Get Set Weekend, identifying and delivering a Surrey showcase project each year
- Support and influence the 18 local authorities across Surrey (alongside the local Participation Officers) with the production of their playing pitch strategies, championing cricket facilities at every opportunity.
- Oversee and manage the County Pitch Advisor network including delivery of the fine turf development programme, machinery hire service, grounds development workshops programme and Grounds Management Association training subsidy programme
- Oversee and manage the budgets related to the Clubs and Leagues work programmes
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature to those described above, which may be allocated from time to time as directed by the Line Manager
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:
Essential:
- Experience of successfully leading and managing a team
- Extensive experience in facility development, planning and capital projects
- Strong project management experience
- Able to communicate clearly and efficiently in writing and in person
- Knowledge and experience of managing budgets
- Planning and organisation skills with the ability to be systematic, logical and pragmatic
- Ability to influence and drive positive change
- The ability to develop effective and beneficial working relationships with a range of stakeholders and suppliers
- Experience of working with and influencing volunteers
- Good computer literacy, including MS Office
- Good attention to detail
- Willingness to work unsocialable hours as necessary
- Good time management skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
Desirable:
- A keen interest and understanding of cricket
- Experience of working within the local authority planning process in some capacity
- Experience of volunteering within sport, ideally cricket
Flexibility around working hours and locations within Surrey are vital to the success of this role
Satisfactory ECB DBS Check, First Aid, Safeguarding and the right to work in the UK
This role can be based at Kia Oval (London) or at George Abbot School (Guildford)
