Role Overview:
We are now seeking experts in this field to spearhead the next phase of our digital transformation.
To achieve our mission of “creating the future of media”, we recognize the pivotal role of data and are committed to enhancing our Data Engineering capability.
This role demands a proficient grasp of data engineering and technology, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate these complexities to drive business success.
As a Lead Data Developer in Data and Analytics, you'll be instrumental in crafting data solutions that empower both internal teams (e.g., marketing, sales, finance) and external stakeholders (e.g., advertising agencies, brands, digital site landlords), thereby directly influencing our business's trajectory.
You will be based in our London office, and you'll collaborate with regional offices in the UK and Europe.
Responsibilities:
Understanding Needs: You will be responsible for understanding ‘’why” various stakeholders need data so you can scope, design and deliver solutions that solve their problems and deliver value.
Architecture and Design: Define optimal architecture and design solutions tailored to meet business objectives.
Build, Test, Deploy: Hands-on creation and delivery of data solutions, guiding them through production and into the hands of users.
Coaching and Mentoring: You will be responsible for developing and growing the junior data engineering team.
Engineering Practices: Champion best engineering practices, driving continuous improvement across the team and adopting agile and DevOps methodologies.
Collaboration: Work closely with other teams involved in data creation or consumption to ensure seamless end-to-end data solutions.
Experience:
- Good experience in building cloud-based analytics and data platforms.
- Proven exposure in being part of a team that designs and builds large-scale, high-profile analytics and data platforms.
- Has experience in fostering collaboration, manage risk strategically, and thinking creatively.
- Demonstrated capability in managing change and ensuring delivery.
- Capacity to build credibility, drive best practices, and continuously improve.
- Proven experience in conceptualizing and proposing solutions that prioritize user needs and experiences.
- Demonstrable experience building solutions for multiple functional business areas and an understanding of how they are connected.
- Good understanding of data quality principles and experience in implementing data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulations.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI, for creating interactive and informative visualizations to communicate insights from data.
- Proficient knowledge in data modelling, schema design, and database\storage optimization techniques
Tech Skills:
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and technologies.
- Good knowledge of data analysis, modelling, ETL processes, data warehousing, and core data infrastructure services.
- Exposure to native Azure technologies like Service Bus, Data Factory, Logic\Function Apps, Microsoft Synapse\Fabric, Analysis Services, and similar tools.
- Strong experience with Databricks (Python/PySpark predominantly), with exposure to streaming pipelines and Unity Catalogue.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI (DAX) at an introductory level.
- Good knowledge in architecting for Non-Functional Requirements such as Scalability, High Availability, Cost Efficiency, Security, and Compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the architecture and design of data platforms within a team.
- Hands-on experience in implementing core data infrastructure services.
- Good understanding of technology methodologies like Agile, DevOps, and Quality Assurance.
