Kennedys is looking for an Associate to work in the Marine team, to handle and assist in handling of marine insurance claims (primarily hull, war, marine liability, cargo, mortgagee's interest insurance, marine cyber and yachts), and wet and dry shipping. Some policy drafting will be required.
We are particularly interested in speaking to candidates that have arbitration (particularly LMAA terms) and litigation experience.
Language skills are helpful, but not essential. Some overseas travel may be required.

Team
Kennedys' Marine team provides assistance to domestic and international clients on a comprehensive range of marine insurance, wet and dry shipping, and trade issues.
Clients- Insurers (domestic and overseas)
- Charterers
- Freight forwarders
- Shipowners
- Ports and terminal operators
- Commodity marine service tenders
- A wide variety of disputes across all classes of marine insurance (coverage, defence and subrogation)
- Insurance policy and commercial contract drafting
- Wet and dry shipping disputes.
Required experience
- 2-4 years' UK Qualified Solicitor or CILEX qualified with the relevant experience*
- Experience of marine insurance gained at a recognised shipping law firm
- Familiarity with arbitration and court procedures
- To have had previous client contact and attendance at business development events.
