THE ROLE
Supervises the development and operation of both landfill and composting sites. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

THE ROLE
Supervises the development and operation of both landfill and composting sites. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Directs unionized laborers, equipment operators, and truck drivers in separating, placing and burying waste and processing organics for composting.
- Lays out and directs the grading of roads, levees, and tipping areas of landfills and composting operations to ensure proper drainage.
- Assists Site Manager in managing the sites' employees in accordance with existing Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Analyzes utilization and fill rates for existing landfills. Projects future life of landfills and future additional needs. Manages the available remaining airspace in the most efficient manner. Keeps records of landfill and composting facility operations.
- Assists Site Manager in the development, and implementation of the landfill and composting sites' business plans. Manages sites in accordance with the budget, and profit and loss statements.
- Manages operational projects including the development of project scope and oversight of team members to ensure completion within budget and scheduled timeline.
- Provides functional guidance to customers regarding use of landfills and composting facilities.
- Oversees and coordinates services of outside consultants and contractors.
- Ensures compliance with regulations, company policy, safe practices, and high standards of environmental protection.
- Directly and/or through subordinate lead persons, supervise 5 or more employees, including truck drivers, heavy equipment operators and laborers.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
- Three years related industry experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
- Technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in position related area including landfill management operations and procedures, including knowledge of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local that govern landfill and organic site operations.
- Principles of personnel training, supervision and evaluation.
- Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.
- Current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
- Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Valid Class C driver's license.
