JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Facilities Manager of the Player Development Complex and based at the Toronto Blue Jays' Spring Training Facilities in Dunedin, Florida, the Maintenance Electrician's primary role is to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. This position ensures all electrical components function efficiently and safely to support facilities operations, including games, events, and daily activities, in compliance with relevant codes. Additional responsibilities also include installing and servicing field lights, PA/sound systems, and electrical control systems. The maintenance electrician must be capable and willing to perform duties at both the TD Ballpark and the Player Development Complex, with occasional direct reporting to the TD Ballpark as scheduled.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as inspecting motors, electrical devices, and equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance actions to ensure the longevity and proper functioning of machinery and electrical systems.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine the best method to correct them by referring to blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs.
- Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications.
- Maintain specialized equipment or machinery located in kitchens, dining areas, and laundry facilities.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components as required.
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes.
- Ensure compatibility and safety of the electrical system.
- Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments.
- Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, manuals, or schematic diagrams.
- Inputs, tracks, and monitors maintenance requests daily.
- Order parts, supplies, or equipment as needed to maintain inventory for repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a cohesive and high-performing team environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program preferred.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrician, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Comprehensive training and understanding of NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E and LO/TO procedures.
- Bending, carrying, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds (23 kg), pulling, pushing, running, sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, twisting and walking (up to 6 hours a day) to perform job tasks
- Seeing and touching, hearing, and smelling required to determine problems with and repair equipment.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often in varying weather conditions which may include industrial garbage, human bodily waste, cold, grease, isolation, smoke, dirt, oil, noise, dust, heat, odors, fire, electricity, poor lighting, etc.
- Exposure to hazards such as chemicals that can burn, noxious fumes, poor ventilation, things which cause cuts such as filters on fan coil units, checking electrical equipment, inhalation of things which cause breathing difficulties, tripping, etc.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during the baseball season and special events.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of mechanical equipment, buildings, or other devices.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
