Property Analyst

We are currently looking for a Property Analyst to be based in London on a full-time basis, reporting into the Group Head of Delegated Property.

You to provide analytical support in respect of the analysis of the property account and monitoring the performance of the property book from a pricing, claims and exposure perspective. Thereby enabling the Group Heads of Property to make informed decisions about the performance of the Property book or subsections thereof.

You will have an analytical mindset and be someone who wants to develop their skills in data capture, analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • To lead and drive forward the analytical output for Property in terms of profile of business and performance
  • To manage and manipulate (often large and complex) datasets to enable performance metrics to be derived.
  • Investigation into year-on-year changes in respect of individual property risks as well as property portfolios and the underlying factors driving them
  • Work closely with the property underwriters, pricing, claims and exposure management teams to develop performance monitoring and portfolio management tools whilst wherever possible making use of internal reporting tools and data warehouse functions to automate and streamline the monitoring of the property business
  • Support the Property Team with in depth portfolio analyses and performance management
  • Prepare standard and ad-hoc MI reports and KPIs as required and assist with the reporting of performance against plan
  • Support and participate in relevant project initiatives
  • Analysis of pricing model and exposure management data including parameter validations if so required
  • Support for Syndicate business planning process as well as reporting requirements to Lloyd’s, Munich and the PRA
  • Production and review of pricing management information if so required
  • New business initiative analyses and independent reviews
  • Liaise and share knowledge with other Munich Re Property business units
  • Supporting the development of innovative analytical solutions to assist underwriting teams in quantifying risk within their respective portfolios to include post-event analytics

Knowledge and Skills

  • An analytical mindset, having the ability to manipulate data sets in Excel/ PowerBI and derive KPI’s to help drive the property business forward
  • Experience of property portfolio analytics
  • Highly developed mathematical / statistical knowledge
  • Detailed knowledge of actuarial methods and techniques, and the ability to apply them in practice, making reasoned judgements within a business environment
  • Knowledge of a range of modelling techniques and applications for pricing, exposure and claims management
  • Demonstrate a high degree of diligence and accuracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles of insurance and reinsurance
  • Current Lloyd’s market knowledge
  • Ability to manage your own workload and work collaboratively with colleagues
