What you’ll be doing:

Join our team as an Apprentice Maintenance Electrician and be part of an exciting period of growth within our safety-critical environment. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical systems and machinery. You’ll be responsible for performing maintenance on various electrical components, equipment, and assets across the site. By conducting regular reactive maintenance and addressing any issues as they arise, you’ll help keep our infrastructure performing at its best. Your day-to-day tasks will include fault-finding, testing, and troubleshooting asset and machinery breakdowns to minimise downtime and ensure everything is working to the highest standards. You’ll also have the chance to work with a wide range of equipment, from low voltage systems and PLC controls to CNC machines, lathes, and cranes.

In addition to hands-on maintenance, you’ll support our team leaders and production teams to improve plant performance and efficiency. This includes maintaining accurate documentation of work, such as records of breakdowns and maintenance activities, ensuring everything is compliant with safety regulations. By following Health & Safety best practices, you’ll operate safely and help uphold the highest standards across the business.

Throughout the program, you’ll build essential skills such as reading technical drawings, understanding electrical regulations, and safely isolating equipment. You’ll gain hands-on experience with a wide range of tools and machinery, both large and small, and learn how to troubleshoot effectively, communicate clearly, and work as part of a team. It’s a fantastic time to join us with incredible opportunities ahead and this apprenticeship is perfect for those beginning their careers or considering a career change.

Benefits:

As well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing & lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.

The Submarines team:

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world’s most complex engineering challenges.
