Your New Role
The Head of Compensation & Performance, Group will be responsible for delivering strategic programmes, focused on reward and performance for the workforce below Executive level, using your technical knowledge to advise globally on risks and priorities. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, and working alongside the Head of Executive Reward, you’ll develop pay, benefits and performance strategies to align with delivery of Hays’ strategy.
The role is divided into the following Key Areas:
Reward
- Act as a subject matter expert across pay, benefits and total reward, providing expert advice to stakeholders globally. The scope is for workforce below Executive level, i.e. excludes those in receipt of long-term incentives.
- Leveraging your network, industry knowledge and insights from colleagues and stakeholders, determine core principles and approach for a modern approach to pay, commission structures and benefits that motivate individual and collective performance below Executive level
- Create a flexible total reward framework and guidelines to ensure that both global and local needs are met and in line with overall business requirements
- Understand and influence/support the design and delivery of in-country variable pay (commission schemes and bonus) outside of equity/deferral scheme for senior leaders
- Develop and implement strategy, policies, and programmes that support the business objectives, vision, values and desired behaviors
- Design processes whereby reward structures and pay rates are benchmarked regularly across the globe to ensure Hays can compete for and retain talent and be an employer of choice, and to inform budgeting and planning on pay
- Ensure we have an appropriate and clear approach to global mobility that is in line with tax and other regulation and that is executed consistently across the organisation
- Work in concert with the CPO and wider global People leaders to ensure the clear and compelling articulation of a colleague deal to support colleague engagement and attraction
- Ensure all aspects of (below executive) reward is focused on diversity and inclusivity to ensure accessibility and equality of approach to all colleagues, using regular analysis to provide assurance and insight
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant legislation and appropriate risk management and controls
Job Levelling & Evaluation:
- Lead on the development of a global job levelling and architecture framework in conjunction with People teams across Hays Group to ensure clarity and consistency across grading and pay/benefits
- Design and be accountable for job evaluation protocols and standards globally, ensuring that teams worldwide are upskilled to be able to deliver this consistently
- Set the standard for clear and inclusive role profiles globally
Performance Management:
- In collaboration with the regions and HRBPs, ensure Hays has a fit for purpose performance management framework that aligned to expected behaviours and drives delivery of business goals, whilst supporting ongoing feedback and personal development of colleagues.
- Ensure that guidance and communications, upskilling in relation to performance management is clear and effectively understood, with colleagues and managers clear on the role they play in this
- Play an active and broad role as a member of the Group People Leadership team, contributing to the wider strategic people agenda
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for an engaging leader who will demonstrate behaviours that support and reflect the Hays values. With significant experience in operating at a senior reward level within a global organisation (with sales/commission structures), you will have a proven track record of acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will be able to deliver in a fast paced, complex environment communicating clearly and openly to win support all whilst demonstrating a commitment to the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion through reward and performance.
