Role overview

As Standard Chartered Bank continues to grow its Transaction Banking business in the UK & Europe region, we are looking for a Regional Head of Trade Sales UK & Europe to join our team.
In this role you will manage the UK & Europe Trade Sales team with the focus on driving the regional Trade Sales strategy and developing and supporting your teams as well as manage a portfolio of clients.

The location is flexible as this role can be filled in France, Germany, Sweden or the United Kingdom.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the regional Trade Sales team in UK and Europe. Coach and advise them on growth and development.
• Direct portfolio ownership of assigned clients for trade finance.
• Assume complete ownership of:
- Transaction Banking Client Map for UK & Europe region and Account Plan commitments.
- Client revenue and pipeline for allocated portfolio of clients and oversight for the region.
• Build full access to trade finance decision makers through active client calling.
• Build access at operating and senior levels within the client trade departments.
• Assume active role in credit and compliance approvals on credit applications deviations for assigned portfolio.
• Manage all Trade Sales risks in the assigned portfolio. Conform to global standards, improve risk metrics, e-enablement & culture, and ensure no failed audits (internal & external).
• Proactively lead Trade development within the Transaction Banking.
• Effectively collaborate with all internal stakeholders within Coverage, Product, SSD, Legal, Finance and Compliance functions.

Skills and experience

• Profound experience gained in the regional trade sales roles in the banking industry in a leadership position.
• Advanced trade finance knowledge and experience around documentary trade and open account trade.
• Very good knowledge of the markets and client trade landscape in at least two European markets (e.g. France, Iberia, Benelux, Germany, Nordics, UK).
• People management experience.
• Great stakeholder management and leadership skills.
• Commercial mindset, analytical skills, hands-on and solutions-oriented approach.
• Fluency in English is a must, fluency in other European languages which are spoken in a given region are beneficial.
