Job Description
Public Affairs Internship
Applications are open to career starters with a strong interest in politics and communications and who can already demonstrate an understanding of the UK political landscape through a degree, Masters or work experience. This role is for an early January start.
Our Internships are six month fixed term contracts and paid the London Living Wage. It's an opportunity to learn about Public Affairs and to gain a better understanding of the intersection between business and Government. This may lead to a permanent role but it is not guaranteed.
The aim of the role is to monitor key political and commercial developments that matter to our clients. This could be emerging or changing government policy, scrutiny of policy and progress of legislation in Parliament, and major developments that might impact the client’s business. It will include activities such as monitoring live debates, PMQs, or reading documents such as Government Press Releases and New Bills, consolidating these and drafting analyses of why it matters for our clients. You would have exposure to a wide variety of clients and issues as we work in all sectors from transport, health, and energy to food & drink, the creative industries and financial services among others.
You can expect your time at work to be fun, varied and challenging. You'll be supporting a friendly and knowledgable team in which you'll be a vital cog but you will also be given mentoring support to do your best in the role. In addition, there are regular learning opportunities across the business from internal Lunch & Learns to guest speakers from Parliament and business enabling you to be fully immersed in the industry.
The role requires a minimum of 3 days a week in the office, ideally 4, but these days are flexible. Our office is in Holborn.
