Title: Assistant Director of Physical Security Systems and Project Management
Reports to: Director of Physical Security Systems and Human Services Operations
Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Physical Security Systems and Project Management oversees the functionality of all critical security systems and projects across all University campuses. The Assistant Director will manage the Technical Support Specialist, the PS Safety Systems Analyst, Payroll Analyst, and the Graduate Assistant along with student workers on special assignment to the physical security team.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in Developing Short/Long Term Physical Security Roadmap: Continuously assess the physical security program across all University campuses to identify weaknesses, flaws, or misconfigurations. Coordinate with Public Safety senior leadership to develop remediation plans utilizing operational and capital expenditure budgets.
- Project Management: Assist in the implementation efforts of Public Safety’s vision by managing 50-100 project initiatives per year, maintaining project timelines and budgets while mitigating risks.
- Application Management & Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with the Technical Support Specialist on the operational aspects of security systems and coordinate the installation and maintenance of physical security infrastructure.
- Liaison: Maintain working relationships with colleagues from all SJU business units and manage vendor relationships that support the Physical Security Program.
- Asset Management and Quality Assurance: Maintain accurate accounts of security system assets and conduct regular audits to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Supervision: Oversee the Technical Support Specialist, PS Safety Systems Analyst, Payroll Analyst, Graduate Assistant, and student workers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and/or certifications such as PMP/CSPM.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Project Management with emphasis on project planning, risk assessment, and resource management.
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
- Extensive usage of Lenel OnGuard, Kronos, Genetec Security Center, T2 Enforcement, and Audiolog Call Recording Software.
Supervisory Responsibility: The Assistant Director will manage the Technical Support Specialist, PS Safety Systems Analyst, Payroll Analyst, Graduate Assistant, and student workers on special assignment.
Physical Demands: The employee is occasionally required to stand, move about, sit, and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with on-call emergency response duties.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field from an accredited university.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and/or certifications such as PMP.
- A range of experience from 3-6 years of related work experience advancing to 5+ years of progressive experience in Project Management.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field from an accredited university.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Ability to obtain or maintain current certifications/licenses within a specified time frame.

Salary: In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $80,000. St. John’s University considers various factors when extending an offer.
