Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Economist to work for a global professional services business that spans over 40 countries. As an Economist you will be working on a variety of projects and initiatives. These range from the production of the companies’ externally facing economic research documents to client focused, fee earning reports, to corporate and social media presentations.
Key accountabilities
* Economic forecasting; model specification and estimation
* Evaluate macroeconomic and microeconomic trends that have a direct/indirect effect on the construction industry
* Prepare written reports and presentations to senior management and key clients
* Development, analysis and maintenance of corporate datasets and reports
* Working with economic case/appraisal analysis and techniques applying methodologies set out in the Green Book.
* Supporting the development of new data-driven services, solutions, and products
* Opportunity to author content that is regularly published in a variety trade media outlets and construction related publications.
* You will be working in an advisory capacity, potentially leading economic commissions on some of the most significant projects and programmes across the UK and Ireland (HS2, Metrolink etc.), for leading clients.
As an Economist, you will have the following skills and experience
Previous experience or a sound and suitable understanding of the following will be a distinct advantage in applying for this role:
* Broad knowledge of the construction industry
* Knowledge of a programming language or willingness to learn; STATA, R, E-Views, SAS, or similar statistical platforms
* Understanding of visual analytics software or willingness to learn; Tableau and Microsoft Power BI are of particular interest
* Knowledge of economic case/appraisal analysis and techniques applying methodologies set out in the Government’s Green Book, approach to weighing up costs, risks, issues and benefits
* A strong quantitative background
