Job Description
Experienced Homologation Engineer to join our client’s Homologation team. You will be responsible for the approval of product(s) produced by the Company for both national and international markets and for working with internal departments and external partners to obtain the necessary system and vehicles approvals. Your role will also involve periodic assessments to demonstrate ongoing compliance to the technical requirements granted for all approved vehicles.
Homologation Engineer Role:
Responsible, in conjunction with other departments, for integrating the European approval process into the current vehicle approval process.
Responsible, in conjunction with other departments, for obtaining ECWVTA, NSSTA or IVA for specified products.
Responsible, for the impact assessment of legislation and regulations associated with the design, manufacture and use of buses in any country in which the Company seek business opportunities.
Responsible, in conjunction with other departments, for obtaining approvals for any country in which the Company target vehicle placement.
Responsible for identifying the approvals required for associated products.
Responsible, in conjunction with other departments, for ensuring that New Product Developments and the associated materials used in the manufacture of these products are compliant to all National and UN/EU Regulations as applicable.
Responsible, in conjunction with the Sales departments, for appraisal of vehicle tenders and specifications, national and international, to ensure that each sales order has full suite of valid approvals permitting on-going compliance for associated products.
Responsible for regular assessments of the requirements of all National and UN/EU Regulations as applicable and for taking necessary actions with associated products to maintain compliance.
Responsible for writing any procedures associated with the approval processes.
Responsible, for completing, collating and submitting all documentation associated with approval submissions for associated products.
Responsible for cataloguing approval documentation in a secure, organised, easy to access format.
To liaise with necessary departments, internal or external, to help resolve any issues relevant to all National and UN/EU Regulations as applicable.
To liaise with the necessary departments, internal or external, to create an environment where vehicles successfully demonstrate compliance at the first attempt, including ‘worst case scenario’ evaluations.
Evaluation of Certificates of Conformity to ensure continued component/system compliance.
Required, when necessary, to organise and attend tests with test teams to obtain formal approvals.
Work with Quality department to ensure that CoP approval is maintained at all times.
Responsible for the on-going assessment and development of the Stage 6 Inspection process to meet the business need.
Undertake relevant training associated with the effective operation of the post.
Provide relevant training associated with the effective operation of the post.
Undertake any other duties conducive with the effective operation of the post.
Undertake all duties in line with General Data Protection and maintain utmost level of confidentiality.
Ensure work is completed to meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.
Ensure that you treat those with whom they come into contact in a courteous and respectful manner in accordance with the Dignity at Work Procedure.

Homologation Engineer Requirements:
Essential:
• Level 3 Qualification in Mechanical Engineering including Grade A-C in Mathematics and English.
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience in an Engineering Company.
• Practical working knowledge of product/component compliance in an Engineering or Quality based environment.
• Practical knowledge of efficient quality management systems.
• Knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
• Practical use of 2D CAD systems.
• Ability to understand technical drawings.
• Ability to document reports in well written English.
• Good problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication skills.
• Computer literate with practical working knowledge of MS Office including Excel and Word and PDF Software.
• Theoretical knowledge of good engineering disciplines.
• Positive attitude.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
• Highly organised and meticulous.
• Self-Managed.
• Good attendance and timekeeping.
• Good disciplinary record.
• Willing to work overtime as required.
• Willing to travel.
Desirable:
• Experience in ECWVTA and VTP5 process.
• Level 4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in bus, coach or automotive industry.
• Previous exposure to vehicle and/or system related regulations.
• Previous experience in compliance or quality assurance-based role.
• Practical use of 3D CAD systems.
• Good at building professional relationships.
