SEN Tutor (Functional Skills)
Location: South Sheffield based, with travel to sites across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and South Yorkshire
Salary: £32,432.40 – £39,998.70 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (8:30 am – 4:30 pm), 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent About the Role:
We are working with an independent specialist college to help find a dedicated SEN Functional Skills Tutor. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching in Mathematics, English, and ICT from pre-entry level up to Level 2. You will exhibit exemplary teaching skills, have outstanding organisational abilities, and be flexible and adaptable to meet the diverse needs of learners with learning disabilities and difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver outstanding teaching to ensure high learner achievement.
Adapt teaching for learners with complex needs.
Manage learner assessments and goal setting.
Maintain accurate learner records.
Communicate effectively with parents and carers.
Deliver Functional Skills sessions both face-to-face and remotely.
Develop learning materials and assessments.
Identify and address barriers to learning.
Collaborate with specialist support services.
Manage the classroom and support staff.
Promote independence among learners.
Champion English, Mathematics, and ICT in all sessions.
Participate in training and uphold the college's vision and ethos. Qualifications and Experience:
Qualified Teacher with QTS/QTLS.
Minimum Level 3 in Mathematics and English.
Minimum Level 2 in ICT.
Experience teaching learners with special educational needs.
Proven success in delivering Functional Skills curricula.
Familiarity with qualifications from Pre-Entry to Level 2.
Desirable: Knowledge of City & Guilds framework and SEND qualifications. Benefits:
