Job Description
Carbon60 are working with a leading Engineering & Industrial Services Provider with over 200 sites across the UK and Republic of Ireland. We are currently recruiting for a Machinist/Fitter to work on site with a key customer based in Derby.
This position is initially a 12-week temporary to permanent opportunity. There are substantial opportunities to train and develop in this role, so longevity is the aim.
In this role, you will be carrying out a wide range of mechanical machining duties including Centre lathe turning, Milling, Welding, Grinding and basic fabrication operations.
Main Duties:
Centre lathe turning, Milling, Welding, Grinding and basic fabrication operations of a wide range of mechanical components
Carrying out bench fitting and assist and support in the dismantling and re assembling of a wide range of mechanical componentsRequirements:
Have served a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship and be a time served mechanical engineer
Be competent in the use of all machine shop equipment, particularly Lathe, Milling and Grinding equipment and ideally Dynamic Balancing equipment
Ideally be competent in the use of fabrication shop equipment, including welding (Arc, Gas, Mig & Tig) shaping, pressing, cutting and grinding equipment
Ability to identify worn and damaged components and reverse engineer / remanufacture replacement items from worn and damaged samples supplied or from scratch
Ability to improvise and work on your own initiative and with minimum supervision
Be able to work from engineering drawings and replicate original parts
This position offers a great insight into the engineering world, this position allows you to work independently and part of a team.
Pay/Salary: £15.13 - £15.38/hour - £29,500 - 30,000/annum
Working hours: Monday to Thursday 7:45am -16:00pm, Friday - 7:45am - 14:15pm, 37.5 Hours/week
