Job Description
Student Trainees will be located in the Legal Division of the FDIC. Interns work a hybrid bi-weekly schedule which will mandate in-person and virtual requirements. The incumbent will work on various assignments that may include legal operations, investigations, litigation, enforcement, information technology, consumer protection, or legislative activities. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 05-grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing legal research and preparing legal documents -or- 2. Education: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education, or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) with completion of a bachelor's degree. Combination of education and experience: A combination of education and specialized experience as described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. For the CG-09: 1. Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 07-grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing legal research; analyzing facts, evidence, and precedents; and preparing legal documents -or- 2. Education: Applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LLB or JD, if related. -or- 3. Combination of education and experience: A combination of education and specialized experience as described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
