Hours of Work: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Term Time

Pay: £85-£100 per day

Location: Finchley

Job Type: Full Time, Long Term

About the school:

We are working with a wonderful, diverse school in Finchley, London, that is looking for an exceptional SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. The school, rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED, is dedicated to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students, focusing on their emotional well-being and academic success. About the role:

As an SEN TA with a Specialism in SEMH Needs, you will play a key role in supporting children with SEMH needs across Key Stages 1 and 2. Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO, your focus will be on providing tailored support to help pupils manage their emotions, build positive relationships, and engage with their learning. This is a full-time, long-term position that requires dedication and empathy, as well as the ability to work both 1:1 and with small groups of children with additional needs.

Application Requirements:

• Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs, ideally within a school setting.

• A passion for working with children with Special Educational Needs and helping them to achieve their full potential.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

• Patience, resilience, and a calm approach when managing challenging behaviour.

• Relevant qualifications or training in SEN or SEMH support would be advantageous but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

• Delivering 1:1 or small group interventions to help pupils develop social, emotional, and behavioural skills.

• Assisting class teachers with adapting lessons to meet the needs of children with additional needs.

• Promoting positive behaviour and helping students build emotional resilience and confidence.

• Working collaboratively with the SENCO and other staff to monitor progress and update individual education plans (IEPs).

• Providing personal care and support where necessary, ensuring that all pupils feel comfortable and included.
