MLK Education Search are seeking to appoint an experienced Assistant Headteacher and SENCO for a leading co-educational school for young people aged 11-18 who thrive in a small, therapeutic and nurturing environment. .The ideal candidate will have a strong background in therapeutic SEN education, a deep understanding of neurodiversity and experience working with children with SEMH and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise and oversee the graduated approach to providing SEN support, adaptive teaching methods and interventions appropriate for individual pupils in liaison with the teaching and therapy team.
• Ensure that Special Education Needs provision is effective and efficiently managed and that all legal and statutory requirements are met for all students.
• Take on the day-to-day responsibility to provide professional guidance of SEN to teaching and support staff in order to maintain and increase a high-quality standard of teaching, to make good use of resources to improve standards and achieve positive outcomes for the students.
• Be responsible for overseeing and organisation of the SEN team to ensure all students individual needs are met daily.
• Work closely with the AHT and the family liaison officer to ensure pastoral and alternative support is effective and dynamic.
• Coordinate, attend and lead EHCP reviews for pupils.
• Liaise with teachers and other staff in advance of meetings to ensure up to date information is collected and collated.
• Liaise with multi-agency professionals, to ensure that all outcomes are reviewed, updated, outcomes are shared with all key staff as well as external professionals.
• Lead on all SEN provision and plans in the school including IEPs, Risk Assessments, Pupil Profiles, Pupil Individual Strategies.

Qualifications:

• Experience within a therapeutic SEN education setting.
• QTS
• SENCO qualification
