Job Description
About The Role
Are you a creative and strategic social media expert ready to make a real difference? Join us as a Social Media Manager at the Royal British Legion on a fixed-term contract until August 2025. You’ll have the unique chance to shape the digital presence of one of the UK’s most trusted charities, crafting content and managing online communities that bring our mission to life. If you’re passionate about storytelling, thrive on community engagement, and have a flair for impactful social media strategy, this role could be your perfect fit.
Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life.
As our Social Media Manager, you’ll be a key force behind our organic social media channels, collaborating with teams across the business to create content that inspires and connects with our audiences. From overseeing our content calendar to handling community interactions, you’ll ensure every post resonates with our values and purpose. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll provide expert guidance on best practices, helping teams across the organisation elevate their social media presence and ensuring our message is consistent and powerful.
In this role, you’ll also have the rewarding task of mentoring and managing two Social Media Officers, helping them develop their skills while bringing your own innovative ideas to the table. You’ll be responsible for tracking and reporting on engagement, running competitor analysis, and staying on top of trends, all to ensure that the Royal British Legion’s social media remains fresh and engaging.
Here at RBL, we aim to support our people and their wellbeing, with a package including generous paid holiday allowance and pension scheme contributions, and a range of optional benefits and discounts.
You will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely there using our collaboration tools to work with colleagues, with occasional travel (incl. for monthly team meetings).
This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced social media professional to bring their skills to a cause that truly matters. If you’re ready to use your talent to build community, raise awareness, and support those who serve or have served, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and join us in amplifying our mission through the power of social media!

RBL is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation, reflecting the diversity of the armed forces community and of wider society. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and personal characteristics.
