Job Summary:


Nature of Work:
The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) or a Certified Midwife (CM) for a 1.0 FTE, benefits-eligible, position with its University Nurse Midwives (UNM) faculty practice in Aurora, CO (on the Anschutz Medical Campus) to provide antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, wellness and gynecological care to a select population. This position is clinically based as a health care provider and includes an instructor level, non-tenure clinical practice track appointment within the College of Nursing. The University of Colorado, College of Nursing currently has four academic midwifery faculty practices and a midwifery education program. This full-time position will work night shifts 50% of the time.

Faculty Practice Description:
UNM works collaboratively within the OB/GYN department and offers families many services including individualized care, group prenatal care, childbirth education, lactation services, behavioral health services, and referrals to specialty care with the University of Colorado and UCHealth systems. UNM provides full-scope midwifery care to individuals at the Anschutz Medical Campus and inpatient care to STRIDE clinic patients. UNM believes that families benefit from personalized and comprehensive care that focuses on the individual while including the family in the plan of care. The practice provides care to families from many countries and strives to offer culturally appropriate care. This position is a faculty appointment and involvement in the College of Nursing is expected. The midwife will be part of a midwifery service that consists of 19 midwives and has a long and successful history within the University of Colorado system.

Work is performed independently under the general direction and authority of the UNM Clinical Lead

Examples of Work Performed:
Provide full scope care to the gynecologic, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patient
Provide care in the outpatient clinic, OBED, and intrapartum unit
Utilize limited obstetric ultrasound skills in the outpatient and inpatient setting
Attend monthly practice meetings and participate in a minimum of one-practice and/or College of Nursing committee.
Educate health care team students (APPs, medical students, residents) and actively participate in student evaluations
Provide water birth option to low-risk patients
Participate in practice development, promotion and community outreach.
Active participation in health plan contracts.
Remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Instructor:

Master's degree in midwifery from an accredited institution of higher education.
Current AMCB certification.
Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State) or applicable certified midwife professional license.

Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.



Senior Instructor:

Master's degree in midwifery from an accredited institution of higher education.
Current AMCB certification.
Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State) or applicable certified midwife professional license.

Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.


Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Assistant Professor:

Master's degree in midwifery from an accredited institution of higher education.
Doctoral degree in nursing, midwifery, an appropriate area of science, or a related area from an accredited institution of higher education.
Current AMCB certification.
Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State) or applicable certified midwife professional license.

Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.


Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Conditions of Employment:

Experience working in a high patient volume and/or high-acuity patient setting

Anticipated Pay Range:


The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$95,683 - $105,252 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/CNM
$96,639 - $106,304 annually at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice /CNM
$97,596 - $107,357 annually at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice /CNM
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
