Public Relations Strategist

Our client in Hanover, Maryland is in search of a public relations strategist. The strategist will be responsible for supporting external communications and media relations to raise awareness of the business, purpose, and value. The position will be responsible for writing and editing content for a variety of mediums, including but not limited to press releases, speeches, media commentary, web pages, and social media.

The ideal candidate is proficient in public relations and communications planning, implementation, and evaluation This includes determining key messages for target audiences, creating strategies to reach those audiences, researching various sources, interviewing subject matter experts, interpreting complex information, crafting compelling narratives, and determining the most effective communications tactics.

This position participates in a hybrid schedule. Candidates must be local and willing to commute to Hanover, MD three days a week.

Responsibilities

• Write content for press releases, speeches, media commentary, web pages, and social media
• Facilitate information requests from the media
• Prepare and arrange interviews for an organization’s subject matter experts
• Help subject matter experts communicate effectively with the public
• Conduct research on various topics and facilitate interviews with relevant stakeholders
• Help maintain corporate image and identity and support crisis communications
• Manage multiple projects adhering to strict timelines
• Cooperate with creative and digital teams for production and publication of various content
• Ensure final content adheres to brand and style standards
• Contribute to brand and corporate marketing initiatives

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in public relations and communications
• BS/BA in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism or relevant field
• Proficiency in project management and execution of PR campaigns
• Experience in copywriting and editing
• Aptitude in presentation and public speaking; able to prepare/coach leaders at all levels within an organization
• Proficiency in social media
• Detail-oriented, highly organized; ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A creative yet practical mind; able to turn an idea/concept into practical application
