Job Description
In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring production equipment is well-maintained and operating at optimal performance. Your expertise in setting machines, conducting fault analysis, and ensuring process integrity will be crucial to our production team. Key Responsibilities Identify, report and rectify all technical areas of concern on assigned production equipment (machines, moulds, etc.) Have an in-depth understanding of: Product and its quality criteria Process (material feeding and drying, injection moulding, reheat stretch blow moulding and injection blow moulding) General knowledge of all equipment, detailed for assigned equipment Mould installation Technical principles and drawings (e.g., assemblies and spare part finding, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric) Fault analysis and problem solving: Independently do fault analysis and problem solving in case of (teamwork as needed): Product quality issues Mould issues Machine malfunction (mechanic / hydraulic / pneumatic / electric) Recognize and report problems to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager on other than the assigned equipment Independently develop maintenance plans and check lists (teamwork as needed) Ensure maintenance is done at required intervals according to the plans: By yourself By service suppliers as agreed by Maintenance Manager & Production Manager Document maintenance according to the plans Identify spares needed for assigned equipment: In general As a preventative measure identified during maintenance checks Optimization of the production process, setting the machine for optimal performance and cycle time Ensure that the process integrity is optimal for each run, if not amend and record new process setting Document settings as per standard practice at the facility Liaise with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager (in charge) to ensure machine availability vs. major maintenance intervals Have an overview of what needs to be done and report to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager Give completion dates and fulfil tasks required by Maintenance Manager & Production Manager Ensure sound relationships and communication with internal work-related staff (QC, Production, etc.) and external (Toolroom, Technical department, suppliers, etc.) Strive for improvement, research, and make suggestions Log jobs performed Analyse Defect Register together with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to improve production result Contact external suppliers as agreed with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to assist in solving problems (quotes on service, spare parts, etc.) Have an overview of existing stock for equipment Spare part analysis ( keep stock vs. source at breakdown): Likelihood of wear/breakage vs. cost vs. delivery time Report parts needed to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager and assist in decision to have on stock or source at breakdown Assist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager in ordering process (e.g., prepare documents, follow up on orders) Plan for the year ahead, assist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager with work on budget for maintenance Ensure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to Health and safety requirements Maintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility (e.g., ensure cleanliness assigned machines and areas) Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues Report any accidents, incidents and near misses Apply the companys quality principles and standards Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Food safety standards are site-specific, and at these sites, employees should: Apply the sites food safety principles and standards Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager Comply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Companys FSMS (Food Safety Management System) Realistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses, if any that hinders the fulfilment of your objectives Keep abreast of innovation and technical improvements for further self-development and the development of the company: Keep contact with your key suppliers and discuss with them Read operator manuals of machines Read literature that has to do with your position (e.g., on the internet, Google, etc.) Teamwork and co-operation Self-Management Leadership and interpersonal relationship Product and service quality Perform additional tasks as required from time to time Ensure team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not available Inform yourself about and apply the company's principles and standards Set an example, be a role model for your team and others in the way you work and behave The employee accepts that he/she may be required to carry out any other tasks as required by management based on operational requirements Minimum Requirements: Education: Grade 12 with a minimum N2 in Tool, Jig & Die trade theory and trade tested (red seal), preferable Experience: 5 years relevant setting experience Technical Knowledge : Sound understanding of drawings Fundamentals of fault finding and equipment testing Sound knowledge on H&S and safe working procedures Installation of parts & related equipment Fault finding and problem solving Good communication skills Ability to act decisively and urgently High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills Passionate to progress a career into Packaging for the future with an appreciation of the environmental concerns and impacts.
