Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY : In a general way, the professor's teaching load shall include: preparation of course outline; preparation of classes, labs and fieldwork; teaching classes, labs and fieldwork; adaptation; support and supervision of students; preparation, invigilation and correction of examinations; revision of corrections at the students’ request; participation in pedagogical days organized by the College; participation in departmental meetings and required activities. May also include departmental coordination; program committee coordination; special support and supervision activities; participation in program activities; program development; implementation and evaluation; and institutional development. DUTIES : The college is seeking a part-time or full-time professor to teach courses onsite in the Winter 2025 semester. Please note that courses are subject to change. 340-101-MQ Philosophy and Rationality 4 hours (2 sections) This course studies the use of language and thought in relation to reasoning and argumentation. It also explores the birth of philosophical reasoning in ancient Greece, the transition from mythology to philosophy and from philosophy of nature to ethics and metaphysics. Pre-Socratic philosophers, Plato and Aristotle, are among the philosophers covered in different sections of this course. 340-102-MQ Concepts of Humanity 3 hours (1 section) A survey of the history of philosophy as it pertains to how humanity has come to understand itself morally, metaphysically, psychologically, spiritually, and epistemologically. Topics discussed may include (but are not restricted to) nominalism, humanism, attitudes towards the Ancients and towards the future, empiricism, rationalism, modernity, existentialism, and/or post-modernity. 340-CXB-HR Theories of Social Justice 3 hours (1 section) This course explores the nature and function of ethical inquiry, views of social justice and their application to specific issues relevant to the field of social science. 345-CXA-HR Values in the Workplace 3 hours (2 sections) This course aims to apply different ethical theories, principles, and values to the areas of work and business. The focus is on the requirements for making capitalism more ethically appealing as well as the relation of corporations to other entities such as consumers and the natural environment. Values and virtues like cooperation and fairness are discussed along with the application of an ethical decision-making model to relevant case studies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED : Minimum of a Master's degree in Philosophy. Teaching experience would be considered an asset. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to: Create a dynamic, challenging, and motivated learning environment. Adapt to a variety of student needs and provide appropriate academic and career development support to students. Employ exemplary communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter through practical experiences. Apply theoretical concepts to current workplace needs and skill requirements. Must be flexible as required by the department workloads. Stay abreast of changes and new program requirements through regular professional development activities. Be willing to work collaboratively within the department team. SALARY RANGE (PER YEAR) : 54,661.00$ - 105,266.00$
