Job Description

QV Systems is excited to offer a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their team as a Level 4 Software Development Apprentice. This role is designed for someone who is passionate about technology and eager to develop a rewarding career in software development. As an apprentice, youll work alongside experienced developers, contributing to real projects and gaining hands-on experience with modern development tools and practices.

QV Systems was born from a belief in a better way of financing. Founded by Daniel Layne in 2011, the goal was to build financing systems that delivered a great experience for businesses and their customers alike now, and into the future.

In this role, youll work towards yourLevel 4 Software Development Apprenticeship,delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Working with the Delivery and Product teams as well as other members of the Development team in completion of QVs products in alignment with project deadlines to a high standard.
  • Working with the Product team with technical specifications, available technologies, prototypes, and technical knowledge on internal systems such as APIs, third-party integrations.
  • Assisting the Support and Delivery teams on client Change Requests or support tickets.
  • Working with other members of the Development team to improve internal processes, documentation, build systems, libraries and frameworks used in current or future projects.
  • Working with the team to implement devops.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours&Benefits:

  • £21,000 per annum
  • Monday to Friday 9am 5pm, hybrid working available once settled in

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Grade 6 in Maths and 4 in English is essential for this role.
  • Enthusiasm and energy to work with a team to deliver great software.
  • Happiest in a small, dynamic, startup/scaleup environment.
  • Good programming practises such as source control, helpful comments, intuitive project structure, clear well-defined functions.
  • Knowledge of front-end development technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Understanding of Relational Databases and Basic SQL.
  • Some knowledge and interest in implementing DevOps.
  • Ability to clearly convey and discuss technical knowledge and solutions to non-technical members of the team or in communications with clients.
  • To adapt quickly to new technologies, APIs, third-party integrations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Well organised.
  • Inquisitive, deep thinker.
  • Demonstrable customer focus.
  • A keen interest in technology and innovation.
