Job Description

Purpose of the Role: As the Head of Human Resources you will be responsible for leading and executing HR strategies that support our business objectives and foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and employee engagement. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating HR standards, policies, programs, and practices for employees. This role involves handling various HR functions, including workforce planning, employee relations, learning and development, performance management, compensation, and risk management. The HR Business Partner ensures that the organisation's HR operations are effective, efficient and aligned with business objectives. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our workforce and driving organizational effectiveness. Location: Cape Town SA Qualification: Education A bachelor's or master's degree in HR management or a related field Experience Min five years of experience in HR, such as talent acquisition, benefits administration, people management Industry : M anufacturing environment. Accreditation with SABPP or other South African HR professional body an advantage. Technical skills Analytical skills, knowledge of labor laws, strategic leadership, project management, and business acumen Workplace skills Interpersonal communication, active listening, mentoring, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and time management Other skills Emotional intelligence, diversity, business leadership, and executive communication skills Competencies Skills Advanced knowledge of Human Capital Legislation, with preference to PIMCA. HR Practice, Policy and Procedure Strong Administration Skills Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and data visualisation tools Well-developed leadership and junior management skills building and conflict-management skills Good verbal and written communication skills (English & Afrikaans) Ability to act decisively and urgently High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills op well-aligned, supportive teams Appropriate Business acumen and entrepreneurial aptitude Strong problem-solving skills Decision Making Able to make good business-aligned judgement decisions at a tactical level for matters about scheduled and non-scheduled (Paterson A, B, and C Graded) employees within the company standard, policy, practice and procedures framework and the relevant South African labour law. Maintain HR standards, practices, policies, and procedures as defined. Accountability Responsible for Transactional HR in line with defined standards for the site. Ensures that a structure for escalation of responsibility is effective. Effect communication Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives, with a focus on attracting, retaining, and developing top talent in the plastic and packaging industry. Lead the full spectrum of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, talent development, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and compliance. Collaborate with senior leadership to identify workforce needs and develop workforce planning strategies to ensure the organization has the right talent to support its growth objectives. Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention, fostering a positive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Champion initiatives to promote a culture of continuous learning and development, providing opportunities for employees to enhance their skills and capabilities. Oversee the design and implementation of competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent in the manufacturing industry. Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations, maintaining HR policies and procedures that mitigate risks and promote fairness and transparency. Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, fostering their growth and development while ensuring the delivery of high-quality HR services across the organization. Partner with cross-functional teams to support organizational change initiatives, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the change process. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in HR, leveraging insights to continuously improve HR processes and practices.
