Job Description
Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter – Days & Nights
Salary: £46,400 per annum, plus overtime paid at x1.5 and x2.0, benefits & growth opportunities
Working Hours: Week 1 Days (Mon – Fri 7am – 5pm), Week 2 Nights (Sun – Thurs 7pm – 5am)
Location: Commutable from Doncaster, Thorne, Scunthorpe, Howden, Selby, Brigg, Gainsborough, Pontefract, Goole, Worksop, Barton-upon-Humber and surrounding areas
A new and exciting permanent role has opened for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a skilled & motivated team within a fast-paced, heavy industrial production environment. It’s a great opportunity for the Mechanical Engineer to expand their knowledge & skills further, through formal training & working proactively a motivated team of mechanical colleagues.
A superb attitude to work, learning & personal development or growth is essential in this role, as the Engineering leadership team is able to train & develop brand new, or strengthen existing skills for the right individual.
The Role
Working as part of the mechanical maintenance team, you will undertake planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of plant machinery utilised in their production processes.
Ideally, the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will have experience of, or be comfortable to learn, how to work safely & effectively within a heavy industry environment.
Along with PPM, you will also respond to breakdowns, working to get the line back up and running safely as quickly as possible, so solid diagnosis & troubleshooting skills are required.
Add some projects into the mix and you have an exciting role, working as part of a great team, employed by a superb company!
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter or mechanical Service Engineer
Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualifications – A completed engineering apprenticeship would be ideal
Good problem-solving skills
Ability to diagnose & troubleshoot some of the following: Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Drive Chains, Bearings, Seals, Grinding, Arc / MIG Welding, control systems etc
Able to undertake essential maintenance including the installation of new machinery
Able to use & help to improve the CMMS
Has a good understanding & appreciation of Health & Safety, ensuring machine safety standards are maintained
Knowledge or understanding of Lean manufacturing & thinking is beneficial
A team player, able to work well within a team environment
