About the role: We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive school in Barking & Dagenham. In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) within our Additional Resource Provision (ARP), which serves around 50 children aged 4-11. You’ll assist students with academic, social, and personal care needs, including helping with toileting and other daily routines, ensuring they feel comfortable and secure in their learning environment. Each child’s program is carefully adapted to suit their unique strengths and challenges, with an emphasis on developing both academic and life skills. You’ll collaborate closely with Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to foster a caring, structured, and engaging experience for each child.

About the school: Our school is a modern, vibrant, and inclusive learning environment, recently updated with state-of-the-art facilities. The ARP is purposefully designed to support children on the autism spectrum, providing spacious classrooms, sensory rooms, and outdoor areas. The school is a welcoming place where every child feels valued, and the emphasis is on individual well-being and progress. With ample parking on-site, the school is easily accessible, and the staff here are a close-knit team dedicated to making a difference in each child’s life.

Application Requirements:

• Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs is desirable.
• A compassionate and patient approach, with a strong commitment to student well-being.
• Ability to support students with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
• Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with autism.
• Assist with personal care, including toileting and hygiene routines, ensuring students' comfort and dignity.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to implement tailored learning plans.
• Encourage social interaction and support students in developing positive relationships with peers.
• Maintain a safe and structured learning environment that promotes growth and confidence.

Perks and Benefits:

• Competitive daily rate of £85-£100.
• On-site parking and easy access to public transport.
• Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
• Access to modern facilities and resources tailored to SEN support.
• A welcoming, inclusive work environment with a focus on collaboration and mutual support.
