Infrastructure Engineering Advisor: Position Overview : Provides counsel and advice to management on significant Infrastructure matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. Serves as the lead technical consultant responsible for design, engineering and development of information technology solutions. Leads the design, analysis, development and implementation of engineering infrastructure solutions of projects and/or work requests for complex business solutions. Troubleshoots and proceeds on resolving complex infrastructure compatibility issues based on system architecture, project requirements, customer expectations, etc. May be involved in the creation of design specifications and the development and application of utility programs and may resolve escalated infrastructure compatibility problems as they arise. Responsibilities may include risks assessments, partnering on capacity planning, budget forecasting, and the diagnosis and correction of application/network problems. May serve as the primary contact for vendors. Technologies span mainframe, midrange, desktop, server, network data, voice, messaging, web, database, and output/receiving. Focuses on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines. Recognized internally as the go-to person for the most complex Infrastructure Engineering assignments. Responsibilities: Perform Kafka cluster build, including design, infrastructure planning, High Availability and Disaster Recovery. Implementing wire encryption using SSL, authentication using SASL/LDAP & authorization using Kafka ACLs in Zookeeper. Creating connect cluster and connector deployment. Good understanding of Schemas and schema registry. Help maintain current Kafka clusters by performing upgrade, performance tuning, monitoring setup, adding new features, etc. Research new features and conduct proof of concept installation and testing. Ability to work with various infrastructure, development and administration teams. Support of Kafka in On-Premise, Cloud AWS and Azure. Help/Support Application Teams with respect to their Kafka Implementation and Issue triage. Work with Vendor partners to open cases and work with them to resolution. Work with security team to remediate product vulnerabilities. Work with application teams to gather requirements and understand the design and help them with the build path to production. Work with application teams to do performance and resiliency testing. Implementing best practices and work with product owners to implement the roadmap. Good understanding of provisioning resources in AWS and/or Azure. Creating the ec2 instances, EBS volumes and security groups. Basic understanding of networking and load balancing, okta integration. Basic automation skills using shell scripting, ansible and terraform. Documenting the best practices. Qualifications: Required Skills: Have hands on experience in the following: create topics, grant permissions, offset reset, troubleshooting issues, upgrade cluster, installing various Kafka components via ansible scripts (broker, zookeeper, connect, schema registry, KSQL) Familiar with writing/updating ansible scripts. Experience with research and POC of new features/technology AWS/Azure experience College degree (Bachelor) in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience. Required Experience & Education: Overall 11-13 years of experience out of which at least 8 years of Kafka administration experience. Bachelors degree or higher in relevant field. Team player. Desired Experience: Excellent knowledge of UNIX/LINUX OS administration. Strong communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously. Works well under pressure, in a very fast paced working environment. Manage time effectively and accordingly based on priorities. Knowledge of AWS or Azure is a plus
