Job Description

The Photographic Exhibition Coordinator will play a vital role in setting up our new photographic exhibition made of pictures and captions taken by our students across 7 countries, on top of boosting the project's impact by coordinating and overseeing the organization of photographic exhibitions showcasing the work of the participating students. Area: Communication Contract: 6 months (with possibility of extension) Retribuzione: Based on experience Status: 20-30 hrs/week The Photographic Exhibition Coordinator will be responsible for setting up and curating the exhibition, finding relevant venues, and promoting it. You will work closely with the creative team, graphic designers, volunteers, our events manager, and external partners to create compelling exhibitions that effectively communicate the stories and perspectives captured through the students’ photographs. The candidate will also be responsible for setting up new chapters of the exhibition as we open more schools. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Exhibition Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with the creative team to develop exhibition concepts, themes, and timelines. Identify new and prestigious venues and secure exhibition spaces for showcasing the students’ work. Coordinate logistics, including exhibition setup, lighting, framing, labeling, and audiovisual requirements. Manage budgets and resources to ensure cost-effective exhibition arrangements. Collaborate with the field team on project management, photo selection, and exhibition content for future chapters of the exhibition. Creative Direction: Work closely with the creative team members to curate the exhibition content. Provide creative input and guidance to enhance the visual impact and storytelling aspects of the exhibitions. Select and arrange photographs in a compelling manner that effectively communicates the students’ narratives. Coordinate new chapters of the exhibition, mentoring local photographers, retrieving new pictures, coordinating with field teams on captions, and selecting and arranging photographs. Collaborate with designers to create exhibition materials, including brochures, catalogs, and promotional materials. Design, coordinate, and supervise workshops for the public during the exhibition. Marketing and Promotion: Develop marketing strategies and plans to raise awareness and attract a diverse audience to the exhibitions. Collaborate with the communications team to create engaging promotional materials, press releases, and social media campaigns. Coordinate with local media outlets, influencers, and community organizations to generate publicity for the exhibitions. Explore partnership opportunities with galleries, photographers, cultural institutions, and relevant stakeholders to expand the project's reach. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with schools, community centers, and other organizations to organize outreach activities related to the exhibitions. Liaise with volunteers and local supporters to ensure smooth operation during the exhibitions. Foster relationships with photographers, artists, and industry professionals to enhance the project’s visibility and networking opportunities. Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain thorough documentation of exhibition planning, implementation, and outcomes. Collect visitor feedback and evaluate the impact of the exhibitions on the target audience. Provide regular reports to the creative team, highlighting successes, challenges, and recommendations for future improvements. Manage and ensure the photographic archive of the organization is up to date. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in arts, photography, visual communication, or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered). Proven experience in coordinating and organizing exhibitions or similar events. Strong understanding of photography and visual storytelling. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Creative mindset with an eye for aesthetics and attention to detail. Proficiency in marketing and promotional strategies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility and adaptability to work in diverse cultural contexts. Passion for social issues and a commitment to amplifying marginalized voices.
