Job Description
Position Summary A skilled analytical professional responsible for conducting complex sample analyses using various analytical techniques to provide accurate and timely results to Plant departments. The role requires expertise in multiple analytical methods and quality management systems. Key Responsibilities Sample Analysis Perform accurate analysis using advanced analytical techniques including XRF, ICP-OES, and titration methods. Conduct precise weighing of prills and other samples. Follow standard operating procedures for all analytical processes. Maintain detailed records of all analyses performed. Ensure timely delivery of results to plant departments. Quality Control Implement and maintain ISO 17025 laboratory standards. Apply Total Quality Management principles in daily operations. Perform quality control checks on equipment and results. Validate analytical methods and procedures. Document and investigate any quality deviations. Equipment Management Operate and maintain analytical instruments (XRF, ICP-OES). Perform routine calibration and maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment issues. Ensure proper functioning of weighing equipment. Documentation & Reporting Prepare detailed analytical reports. Maintain laboratory records and documentation. Document equipment maintenance and calibration. Contribute to laboratory's quality management system documentation. Required Qualifications Grade 12 completion. National Diploma or Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field. Total Quality Management (TQM) certification. ISO 17025 Laboratory System certification. Preferred Qualification Post Graduate qualification in Analytical Chemistry or related field. Required Experience 2-5 years experience in a Plant Laboratory setting. 3-5 years hands-on experience with analytical techniques including: X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). Titration methods. Prill weighing techniques. Required Skills Technical Skills Proficiency in analytical techniques and instrumentation. Understanding of chemical principles and procedures. Computer literacy and LIMS experience. Method development and validation. Quality Management Understanding of ISO 17025 requirements. Quality control and quality assurance procedures. Documentation and record-keeping. Root cause analysis. Soft Skills Attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent time management. Good communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Health and Safety Requirements Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols. Understanding of chemical handling and disposal. Familiarity with PPE requirements. Knowledge of emergency procedures.
