The Team:
The Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A) is part of the Chief Financial Office (CFO). The team works across all lines of business within the region with offshore support from India. The team's key responsibilities include:
- Reporting, analysing and communicating the regional performance to senior management and external parties, covering both EMEA and International and the interaction with key legal entities
- Presentations and key materials for external stakeholders to support strategic priorities, including regulators
- Executive Support, working across businesses and support functions and with the regional and legal entity executive team
- Strategic/Ad-Hoc Projects: Proactively identifying new opportunities and supporting major cross-LOB projects & initiatives
- Market & Competitor Insight: Global benchmarking and producing strategic insights for senior leadership to drive priorities
The role offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development. The successful candidate will gain:
- Significant senior management exposure, both inside and outside of CFO
- A broad view and understanding of the entire regional platform and the impact of the market environment
- A large degree of day-to-day variety, with a substantial amount of ad-hoc / strategic initiative work
Responsibilities:
The role is highly varied and challenging and will involve working across all team responsibilities, including:
Regional Performance Analysis and Executive Support:
- Ad-hoc analysis, presentations and briefings for senior management for internal and external audiences
- Regional and legal entity performance analysis and insight for executives and key regulators
- Country performance analysis for senior management and country leadership teams
- Presentations for external parties on regional and key legal entity performance and associated briefing materials
Regional and Legal Entity Strategy and Planning
- Communication of the regional and key legal entity strategy to local regulators, working across businesses and support functions and with the regional executive team
- Support for major cross-line of business projects and initiatives within the region
- Support for Country Strategic Reviews, working with local offices to produce plans for senior management
Market and Competitor Insight:
- Competitor performance analysis including benchmarking
- Consolidated analysis of peer group performance, including strategic insights for senior leadership to drive priorities
- Monitor news flow / market developments / analyst reports to provide updates and insights to senior management
Short-Term Objectives:
- Build working relationships with Lines of Business and across the CFO, COO and Risk functions
- Develop a deep understanding of the composition and structure of the EMEA franchise and key priorities
- Gain a broad knowledge of the product suite and solid understanding of revenue and expense drivers
Long-Term Development Objectives:
- Become a go-to resource for impactful analysis and insight into performance and financials plans
- Spearheading strategic projects, efficiency improvements, MI enhancements and ad-hoc requests for senior management and the wider CFO team
- Generate proactive analysis and insight to drive strategic discussion and priorities with senior management
What we are looking for:
- High degree of numerical, verbal and analytical ability
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualified) with proven accounting skills and an eye for detail
- Able to produce high quality, accurate output under tight timescales
- Confident interpersonal skills and ability to build partnerships with key internal clients
- Proactive and self-motivated with a track record of delivering insightful analysis and making improvements
- Organised, able to manage workload efficiently
- A genuine interest in Banking as an industry and a desire to understand how businesses operate and what drives the financial performance.
- Knowledge of investment banking industry
- FP&A experience, including building forecasts, designing reports and generating analysis
